SWFP - Central America

The Severe Weather Forecasting Programme (SWFP) is a World Meteorological Organization (WMO) initiative that enhances the capacity of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services in the region to provide accurate forecasts and early warnings of severe weather events.

In Central America, the programme promotes collaboration among national institutions, supports training of forecasters, and facilitates the exchange of meteorological data and tools. The ultimate goal is to strengthen resilience, reduce disaster risk, and safeguard communities from the impacts of hazardous weather.

About us

This platform is part of the SWFP-Central America initiative. It provides interactive modules including maps, forecast guidance, alerts, and specialized products to support disaster preparedness and decision-making against severe weather across Central America.

Users can access regional and global model outputs, satellite imagery, ocean forecasts, and collaborative tools designed for operational forecasters. The site serves as a hub for meteorological information, training resources, and cross-country coordination to improve early warning systems in the region.
